Henry Harris
60’s Geometric Print Trench Coat and Matching Dress

Label: Henry Harris Coat and dress set. Very classic trench-style coat has double-breasted look, double row of faux-leather-covered buttons; buttons on the lower sleeves, and buckled belt. Extra-wide lapels and collar are set off by a bold windowpane check. Coat is fully lined in satin acetate. Two vertical pockets.

Straight shift-style dress, slightly nipped-in at the waist, with small stand-up collar and back zipper. The varied checked patterns add visual interest, and the overall vertical effect is slenderizing. Both pieces are made of double-knit polyester. Late 60s/early 70s. Great spring or fall season outfit!

Excellent vintage condition. Ever so slight color tonal change on coat collar.

*Henry Harris, was an exclusive upscale women's dress boutique tucked into the southwest end of the Carew Tower arcade in Cincinnati, where “old-fashioned fragrances like Lilly Daché were packaged in luxurious striped boxes with silver bows. Serious shopping went on at Henry Harris, and at Christmas they kept a well-stocked bar to fortify their clients” according to a story in the Cincinnati Magazine. The store was founded in 1937 by Henry Harris and his wife. He passed away in 1970 and she sold the business in 1974 to Shirley Fishel and a few partners who turned the ailing shop into a Cincinnati tradition, a “jewel box” as she called it. Fishel sold the store in 1991 to Jack Schwab, a sales rep for a men's clothing company. By late 1993, the shop crumbled after numerous financial setbacks. Fishel was also the co-owner of another women's clothing shop, Jenny Co which later was sold to become half of the eponymous store Gidding-Jenny when they merged.
