Vintage 60's black velvet beret. Seamed in panels and set on a firm band which holds a covered buckle as an embellishment. Interior is finished with the standard petersham ribbon along with a black twill lining.
Lovely condition showing no wear or age.
Inner circumference is 21 1/2 inches. Measuring on the outside, side to side it is approximately 15 inches.
Label is Betmar.
The Betmar label began in 1933 when the hat business was flourishing in spite of the Great Depression. The name was a taken from Betty Marks who was the first designer for the label. She continued to design into the 1950's at which time Miss Arleen replaced her. Betmar is still in production today.
