This aqua blue chiffon, early 1960s cocktail or party dress features a full, pleated skirt and a fitted, sleeveless bodice. The matching/contrasting fabric sash is aqua blue on one side and bright green on the other, and appears as vivid aqua-green mix, when worn. The dress bodice has bust darts and vertical seaming for shaping. The dress is fully lined with aqua acetate taffeta. (I believe that the chiffon fabric is also acetate, but it could also be rayon or a rayon/acetate blend, definitely a synthetic.) The skirt lining appears to hang a bit lower than the chiffon outer layer, perhaps the chiffon shrank up just a bit when dry-cleaned, or perhaps the ling fabric will pull up a bit when worn over the appropriately-sized body, since our mannequin is a bit too small for it. Either way, the chiffon outer layer of the skirt has a very deep hem, if more length is needed. The dress fastens in back with a metal zipper. It is in very good condition with just a few tiny, nearly invisible picks in the chiffon, one small worn spot on the back of the skirt (see photo), and the aforementioned skirt lining length issue. The two-tone sash adds a fun, extra pop of color to this mid-century party dress!
