Gorgeous late 50 to early 60s medium weight scarlet red textured wool jacket with round collar by luxury designer Frank Gallant for high end retailer Julius Garfinckel of Washington DC.
Cropped length with decorative front slits.
Wrist length sleeves and non-functional decorative front pockets.
Does up the center front black fabric covered domed buttons with horizontal bound buttonholes which is a sign of quality tailoring.
Completely lined with beautiful lightweight scarlet red silk. There is also a goldtone metal chain along the bottom interior back hem which is another sign of quality and was used by Chanel and other high end suit makers of the time.

Freshly dry cleaned and ready to wear.
SIZING: There are no size tags. Based on the measurements below, I'd say this would best fit a modern size Medium.

Gallant’s son Herbert joined the company in 1945 and became president in 1955. Tom Brigance was the designer as of 1951 and stayed into the 1960s. Frank Gallant died in 1965."
JULIUS GARFINCKEL: "Julius Garfinckel and Company was established in Washington, DC in 1905. Garfinckel’s was not a true department store, as they specialized in clothing and accessories and did not carry household goods. They had the reputation of being the most fashionable store in Washington. On their famous Third Floor, one could buy copies of the latest fashions from Paris, or the best that American designers had to offer."
