Class and elegance were an everyday affair, back in the 1950's...
Folks used to take a little more time to dress in the 1950's, and back then this would have been an everyday dress -even to wear just to the market! This summer-ready dress comes in a lightweight, natural and slubbed silk in a beautiful cornflower blue color. The upper bodice features a unique, peaked cut section with a white base topped with pale purple lace, and then topstitched with thin, matching silk ribbons curlicuing all over! Charming. Another design detail that I really enjoy about this dress are the somewhat unique dart styles utilized (see waistline) and the gusseted underarms. Dress is unlined and without pockets. There is a metal zipper and hook + eye center back closure. The overall condition is near mint to excellent, with the only flaws being a very slight lightening of color to the shoulder areas, please see photographs for full details. Only label reads 'Edith Royce, Coral Gables, FL' (which is amazing because that where I'm from!, a small enclave within Miami, FL).
