1950s Pure Silk Suit Set 3-pc, Orange Mini Print, Pure New Look Silhouette

This is a beautifully tailored and constructed 1940/50s silk suit the epitome of a pencil suit 'a la Mad Men. The jacket features an oversize notched collar and lovely flared french cuffs. There are 3 silk-covered buttons down the very fitted waist and "mock" pocket flaps on the hips. The straight skirt has a metal back zip and folded pleat detail on the left side the length is below the knee. Fabric is 100% silk and consists of mini geometric blocks of ivory and green on a vibrant orange ground. Influenced by designers like Dior at the time this suit set was custom made in silk to mirror new fashions. The ivory top included with the suit was a perfect match but may have been remade from a simple dress from the 40s. It is rayon and has a hand embroidered yoke neckline and buttons down the back. Just gorgeous!

The suit condition is good, a small pull in the ground, old repair above false pocket shows some fraying, minor hole on shoulder. The blouse has a raw pinking edge where it was cut from an older dress. French cuff length should be adjusted to suit the wearer. The set is good for vintage condition.
