50s Nathan Strong Black Cocktail Party Dress Bombshell Shelf Bust Flyaway Panels by Nathan Strong$175.00
DESCRIPTION: Wow's the word for this 1950s' cocktail dress by Nathan Strong (one of my favorite designers). Exquisite design details, from the shelf bust with ruched chiffon V-neckline and ruched and pleated sleeves to the chiffon flyaway panels, which are pleated at the waist and fall into drapes. (My dress form isn't "busty" enough to show off the design to its best, but trust me, this will be dynamite on the right woman!) Sleeves and panels have tiny black beads sprinkled across. A body-skimming silhouette with shaping darts and nipped-in waistline finishes off the sophisticated look. Has metal zipper and kick pleat at back. The dress body is rayon or silk satin, lined in silk; the bodice, sleeves, and panels are nylon chiffon.
Be sure to view photos at full size! This dress is a true rich black, but some photos have been lightened for detail.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, with two minor issues: Dress has been let out at the hipline, and there are tiny needle marks at the side seams. These don't show as they're underneath the panels, and they may close with a sprinkling of white vinegar and subsequent pressing (use press cloth). I see two or three runs in the flyaway panels. Neither of these issues is easily visible, and dress is ready to wear.
SIZE: About a modern 8 for a nice snug fit, possibly a full-busted 6. But go by the dimensions below! We suggest you compare to a dress you have of similar style or fit. Remember to leave room for your body! The fabric does not stretch.
