50s Men's National Fire Service Peacoat$225.00
Black wool and heavy! Mens smallish size, see measurements. Info on the NFS here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Fire_Service
Here's the story: It was missing 4 buttons so I bought 12 buttons to replace all of them. I finished one side and tried to cut the buttons off the other side but these are IN the coat! Impossible to cut off, so it's half original buttons and half replaced. The 2 buttons in the back are coincidentally so much like the ones I replaced but these came with the jacket (research shows that the back buttons should be NFS buttons too). The two buttons that were left on the one side will be included because these buttons are collectible. Double breasted, military collar, tapered waist, almost a peplum look. Fabulous lines in this (do I dare say it's sexy?). Totally wearable as well as a great collectible. CONDITION NOTES: Pretty amazing. First, no moth holes! Slight wear at edges. There are hand stitches in the collar and more hand stitches in the inside armholes where the white lining in the sleeves meets the lining in the jacket. It has not been dry cleaned as I no longer have a reliable dry cleaner who will take on vintage.
