This is a typical Hollywood Regency style keepsake box with beveled glass top and sides. It is bright gold with dogwood flowers, scrolls and hounds tooth edges holding the glass in place. It is all open work, cast metal that has been plated gold then antiqued to show the detail. The glass top has a detailed bird and dogwood flower medallion which measures 2.5 inches in diameter. The bottom is a quilted dark red velvet with tiny brass studs throughout. It measures 6 inches in diameter and 4.5 inches high. The plating is in excellent condition. These were typically gilt with 18K gold, called Ormolu, explaining how it has stayed so bright and rich. It is truly spectacular!!

It is marked," Matson, made in the USA " on all four of the ornate 1 inch high feet.
