This example is from their first or second run of these! The Merry Widow was very successful due to its ability to give the wearer a 'wasp-waist' or hourglass effect -the integral feature of the 'New Look', then becoming fashionable.
This version, in Ivory colored nylon, features a nine spiral steel boning and underwire bust structure. Side and back panels are made from a stretch mesh nylon fabric. Center back features a double-sized (36/37) 2 rows of metal hook & eye tape closure. Front and side back sections are a semi-sheer diamond pattern embroidered marquisette fabric. Picot edged elastic banding runs along entire bottom edge, as well as top edge, aside from front area. Four cotton tape garter loops (sorry original garters not present) throughout bottom. Cups are soft, with marquisette style fabric lower half, and folded sheer nylon top. A satin ribbon runs along inner waist band. Corselet has been altered slightly: sides have been taken in about 1 inch, with a simple whip style stitching (may be very easily removed, and I'm happy to do that upon request!). Overall condition is excellent, with very light discoloration throughout, including a couple very light, unnoticeable gold stains at under bust, as well as one small stain at back left mesh panel -please see photographs for full details. Labels read 'A Warner Original', 'Warner's Cinch-Bra Merry widow', 'Nylon and cotton and other fibers, made in U.S.A.' and there is a 'Best & Co. Fifth Avenue New York' label (the shop where this was bought!).

- 26 inch waist (may be larger-sized once side stitches are removed)
- 31 inch lower waist/upper hip (hem of corselet)
- 9.5 inch total length at side seam
- 5.5 inch length from waist to hem at center front
