Beautiful vintage mid century vibrant painting on a musical jewelry box of a Fuji Five Lakes landscape scene, from an artist in Japan. This is a wonderful piece depicting a traditional scene but in a vivid and bold mid century style. The box is footed with the landscape painting spanning over the top and all four sides. But it doesn't stop there! The artwork is completed with heavily inlaid mother of pearl details. When opened the jewelry box reveals blue fabric lining, a mirror in the lid, a hinged level with two sections, and a lower level with one section. The landscape painting in continued inside as accents. If you spin the metal hardware on the underside the box plays a lovely tune. We were told this hand painted piece was brought to America by way of Japan in the 1950's. It was painted in the Fuji Five Lakes area... a region at the base of Mount Fuji, Japan, just North of the famous mountain. The area comprises of Yamanaka, Kawaguchi, Saiko, Shōji and Motosu lakes. This idyllic scene shows a mountainous region, surrounded by autumn colored trees. A traditional Japanese house is nestled into the landscape with boats and bridges scattered in the secluded area. The perfect storage solution for your special jewelry pieces.

Condition: Great vintage condition with no structural damage. There are a few pieces of mother pearl missing. Painting is in excellent condition. No key included.
