1950s Does Victorian Bustle Jacket - Bustle Blazer - 1950s Navy Blue Blazer - Blue Blazer - Victorian Inspired Jacket Size Extra Small / Small
This piece is so amazing! Originally professionally constructed in the 1950s for the Mark Robbins by Joy Pierson label, and later adapted to this Victorian inspired beauty. The fabric is a lightweight acetate/silk blend in a stunning shade of royal purple/navy blue with a find black stripe. The killer architectural lapels are original construction and fasten at the shoulders with pearlescent buttons, the same buttons fasten at the waist. I do believe that this was once a complete suit, and the skirt was likely used to modify the sleeves into leg of mutton with long narrow cuffs. More of the skirt was likely used to add this incredible length of drape at the rear and that amazing bustle. The workmanship is impressive and definitely not shoddy theatrical construction. Someone spent some time and attention to detail.
Condition for this piece is listed according to its current design. I note the faintest hint of lightening near the underarm seams, hardly seen but in some lighting. There are some small insignificant surface tatters noted to the shoulders and a small area on the left but. No other issues to note. This piece has been freshly dry cleaned and is ready to wear.
