50s Cocktail Dress Feminine Tucked Peplum Large Little Black Dress$60.00
DETAILS: A flattering plus-sized vintage cocktail dress, and illustrates the transition between the peplum of the 1940s and the narrower bombshell silhouette of the mid to late 1950s! Fitted bodice with a scooped neckline and short sleeves. Slim skirt with a series of deep tucks - the top one pleats into the waist seam, looking a lot like a short peplum. A self-fabric corded bow at the right side of the waist adds a sweet accent. No tags. SIZE: No size label Bust - 43" (109cm) Shoulders - 17. 5" (44. 5cm) Waist - 32" (81. 25cm) Hips - 38" (96. 5cm) Sweep - 41" (104cm) Bodice length from shoulder seam - 16. 25" (41. 25cm) Skirt length - 27" (68. 5cm) FABRIC/COLOR: Black fabric, probably rayon. The skirt and sleeves are lined with black acetate. CLOSURES: Long metal zipper down the back. CONDITION: I've repaired a few open seams and an area of the skirt lining that had pulled away from its anchors. There is a small area of fabric with disordered threads on the second peplum to the wearer's left - see closeup. It looks like something that happened during the weaving of the textile. There are areas inside the dress where the black acetate lining has turned reddish, a common issue with vintage acetate - the only area of color turn on the outside of the dress is a faint reddish tinge under the arms - see second closeup. No other issues were noted.
