50's Block Print Spring Coat$248.00
This custom-made coat is one-of-a-kind, and totally unique in more ways than one. It was made in the 1950s, and features a Mughal print, with a tiny, stylized floral motif (buti). Indian block prints have always fascinated me; they're so magical and deeply steeped in centuries-old tradition. This one has a lovely magenta background, with indigo block print flowers, and pops of brighter pink and orange. The fabric is a heavyweight cotton/silk blend, which makes this the perfect spring coat! It features a shape typical of 1950s coats, with raglan sleeves, and A-line silhouette creating a shape that elegantly oversized; darts at the chest keep the volume from being too overwhelming. The collar is a tonal violet velveteen, and it closes in the fronting with coordinating iridescent magenta buttons. It's fully lined on the interior with a lavender silky fabric. The coat has two whimsically oversized patch pockets at either front side.
