Body is a shallow black velvet pillbox with a short array of ostrich feathers on the right side. Interior is finished with a black grosgrain ribbon along with an elastic placement band.

Excellent condition, showing no wear or age.

Inner circumference is 19 inches. Measuring on the outside, side to side is 10 inches.

Label is Evelyn Varon Exclusive with a size tag of 22. Evelyn Varon was a French milliner whose designs were so popular that they were copied in the U.S. A. She designed costumes for the 1922 Broadway play "Pins and Needles."

The earliest reference to her that I can find is 1920 and I think the label stopped shortly before 1970. She is know for her high quality designs.
