Herman Delman
50s Black Suede Pumps

black suede shoes. stunning dressy strap sandal style, size 8 1/2 m by Delman. These gorgeous shoes are all suede with an open toe and one strap across the front (above the toes). A big suede black bow in the back completes the look. They have leather trim on the back end. The inside is quilted satin. They are in VG condition with just minimum wear. The bows should probably be pressed down a little. The heel measures 3". It measures 10" from toe to heel of the inner sole. The width of the strap across the foot is 5". I wear a 9 medium and the shoe fits me in length but my foot is a little wide for the strap and hangs over slightly. I have a bit wider foot.

These shoes would look great for any dressy occasion and totally hip with jeans. A real flattering shoe.

"Founded by Herman Delman in 1919 and today one of the oldest salon footwear brands in the United States, Delman’s glamorous, innovative, and classic shoes have been a cornerstone of the fashionable and quality-conscious woman’s wardrobe for the past 90 years.

His designs will forever be associated with iconic leading ladies of the Silver Screen. Marilyn Monroe, Joan Crawford, and Marlene Dietrich all wore Delman, while today celebrities such as Anne Hathaway, Blake Lively, and Leighton Meester are often spotted wearing the company’s designs at premieres and in photographs.

Delman’s enterprising use of celebrity played an integral role in his effort to market his shoes as an expression of the poised and idealized woman. He would often release ready-made copies of designs that had been made exclusively for movie stars." From FIT exhibit announcement
