This dress is very structured and is very well made with a mix of machine and hand stitching. It appears to be one of Madame Gyorky’s Demi Couture gowns.
The Bodice features a sweetheart neckline and is fitted with princess seams in the front for fit
This interior bodice is a well-constructed bustier with interior boning and cups
There is padding to the cups that can be easily removed if needed.
The interior grosgrain ribbon at the waist fastens with hooks and eyes at the center back.
There is a low hip-length net with a horsehair edge petticoat attached inside of the skirt, adding fullness.
Metal Talon zipper with hook and eye at the top Maker: Aranka Gyorky, New York I haven’t found much information on Gyorky aside from a few patterns of her pieces being advertised in Newspaper ads in 1953 which make mention of her “designing for America’s most fashionable women”. RISD also holds a few of her pieces in their collection.
Condition: Good. Please note there are a few somewhat discreet repairs to the chiffon, mostly to the top of the skirt, just below the waist seam. There is a 1/8” hole left unrepaired to the right of the zipper on the bodice. Please see photos. Overall presents beautifully. See photos. Freshly hand soaked, line-dried, and ready to wear.

Has not been clipped on the model and is much too roomy through the bust
Could not zip over the waist on the mannequin, zipped over the model’s waist just fine.
