This not-so-basic 1950s “little black dress” gets some subtle sparkle from a row of metallic black lace trim across the front of its sleeveless bodice. The notched scoop neckline and shoulder straps are shiny black rayon satin, while the body of the dress is made of black rayon crepe. Diagonal hip pockets with a tiny pleat where they meet the waist seam add emphasis to the dress’s hourglass shape. This true 1950s “wiggle dress” has no slit or pleat at the hem of its narrow skirt. The bodice only is lined in black rayon taffeta, and the dress fastens with metal zipper at the side seam. In very good condition, the dress has some minor, purplish light fading to the top of each shoulder strap, which I was unable to really capture in my photos. It blends in well with the purple-toned metallic lace, but is worth mentioning.
