50s Antiqued Gold Filigree Byzantine Chain Necklace

This substantial chain necklace is an antiqued deep gold color. The chain consists of several 1 inch links: half of them an open work flourish design and half Byzantine style. It is a long length of 42 inches and can easily be doubled. It closes with its original gold lobster claw closure. The multiple gold plating is still in excellent condition.

There are no makers marks on this necklace, but resembles Florenza and Trifari styles.

This metal necklace is circa 1950 and made by a high end costume jewelry maker of the time. The first half of the 20th century was the heyday for well made costume jewelry sold from fine department stores to Woolworth, usually made in Europe or the United States. The manufacture and quality of costume jewelry deteriorated in the latter part of the century making this era the last with enduring products.

Women’s gold, gold plated necklace.

Excellent condition, size OS.
