This is just an absolutely stunning 50s/60s mauve/pink silk gown. The gown has a halter neckline with a shelf-styled bust that has a wrap detail at the empire line. The straps and all along the edge of the top of the gown is decorated with lace applique, rhinestones, and pearls. The back is very low to the waistline. In the front, the dress is fitted through the waist, and the skirt flares out with a squared hip that is reminiscent of a pannier dress but is uniquely a late 50s to the early 60s evening gown silhouette. The skirt is beautiful and full with pleats on the sides and is full in the back with the slightest train. There is a zipper up the back and a hook and eye at the waist to help zip up the dress once you get it on. There are also dress hooks on the neck strap. The dress is fully lined in a more mauve-colored taffeta It has a beautiful sheen and great swish in the skirt. There are horse hair bands throughout the top of the skirt to help keep the oblong shape. In the back, there are 3 large taffeta ruffles to give volume to the back of the skirt. The skirt also makes a lovely swishy noise as you walk. The dress has two bones in the little V of the bust to help hold that shape. Most of the support comes from the halter neckline.

Condition:
The dress is overall in great condition with no flaws to note. The dress has been altered from its original state. The embellishments along the top edges have been added and the rhinestones are glued onto the dress. There have also been a few alterations along the neckline that took it in but were let out again at some point and you can see the old stitches right before the armpit on the front. The zipper has also been replaced with a modern zipper. The dress has been professionally hand laundered and is ready to wear.
