This is a lot of six pair of vintage cufflinks: three silvertone and three goldtone.
One of the goldtone has mother of pearl disks, and another of the gold has clear cut glass rhinestones. The last gold has large, iridescent blood red thermoplastic cabochons that resemble star sapphires. The silver are a textured rectangle, a groovy daisy and tiny door knockers...that hinge and ," knock"! All of the swivel closures still work well.
This style of accessory was usually worn at fancy cocktail parties, which were very popular at the time. Sometimes, these over the top pieces were known as, " cocktail" jewelry.
The silver door knockers and daisies are marked,"HICKOK, USA". The gold with faux red sapphire are marked,"SWANK".
These cuff links are circa 1950 to 1960 and made by a high end costume jewelry makers of the time. The first half of the 20th century was the heyday for well made costume jewelry sold from fine department stores to Woolworth, usually made in Europe or the United States. The manufacture and quality of costume jewelry deteriorated in the latter part of the century making this era the last with enduring products.
NecromanceNOLA sells this type of vintage jewelry often since it was well made, usually plated multiple times and had unique design. The plating is still in excellent condition.
