This sleeveless cotton day dress or housedress dates from the 1950s or early 1960s. It is an unusual size, being very short-waisted/petite, which makes it look a bit odd on our tall mannequin, but will make it look perfect on the right person! The crisp cotton fabric has a print that reminds me of stained glass windows, in pink, red, black and white. The dress has a square neckline and wide straps, and bust darts for shaping, above a (high-waisted) waist seam. There are 2 patch pockets in front, below the waist. The skirt section is just slightly flared from waist to hem, not straight, but not full either. The dress fastens with a side seam metal zipper, and is unlined. In excellent to mint condition, it appears unworn. I have shown the dress only slightly pinned to the mannequin, to try to give a better idea of its shape when worn. The last photo shows it completely un-pinned, for comparison. This “half-size” (petite) 1950s-60s cotton day dress will be cool and comfortable, even on the hottest summer day.
