Bucket hats are having a moment, and I love this take on it. This hat was made in the late 1950s/early 1960s by Saks Fifth Avenue Millinery Salon. During this era, this Saks Salon employed dozens of the best hat makers in the business, some of whom eventually rose to their own fame — a sign of remarkable quality and workmanship that you won't find in modern pieces. This hat is made of lush chocolate mink, with an interior that's lined in satin, velvet, and grosgrain — this piece is incredibly well-made! When purchasing a hat, it's always important to consider the interior's lining — today, they're often lined with synthetic materials that don't breathe, which instead of keeping you warm, allows your head to get overheated and causing perspiration. The shape is a mix of a bucket hat and a 1920s cloche hat, as it hangs slightly longer in the back. The interior band measures about 20" in circumference.
Great vintage condition.
