Geometrical 50s to early 60s Gay Gibson Dress in an estimated size Small (tag has faded). Please be sure to check the measurements for best fit estimation.
I love the crisp lines on this dress. Very simple structure, fitted top with a high crew neck and topstitching detail at the neckline. Darting at bust. Top-stitching detail at waist and framing the front of the skirt. The skirt has two side pleats at the topstitching detail and a couple of tiny pintuck pleats at the waist. The color is a 'I just need another splash of cream in my coffee" mocha, beautiful neutral. The fabric has the feel of a lightweight wool suit (I don't actually think it's wool, it just has the touch and weight of suiting of today, it's most likely a synthetic fabric). It almost has a little Nautical appeal to me, with the topstitching detail. Back zip closure with hook & loop at waist.
Timeline estimation based on label, ILGWU label, and pinked interior seams.
In nice condition for its age. Very wearable. The fabric has some areas, mostly around the seams, of light fade (see pics). It's not too apparent unless scrutinized.
