50s 60s Designer Tabak of California Linen Skirt Suit Dress$64.00
DESCRIPTION: Skirt suit or two-piece dress, ca. very late 50s/early 60s, is from a California designer's estate, and is made of high-quality, 100% linen in a natural deep tan color. Top features large decorative buttons with loops and double placket, raglan sleeves, long princess darts for full bust shaping, and back metal zipper. Zipper stops short of the hem, so this is a pullover style. Skirt has set-on waistband, double front darts, single back darts, back metal zip, kick pleat. Versatile outfit--wear the top and skirt with other separates.

CONDITION: Mint, appears unworn. Or may be a runway sample, worn once--but shows no signs of wear.
SIZE: Estimated small, approx. 4 to 6, possibly down to an XS. Skirt was just a bit roomy for our XS manni, top fit OK. But go by the dimensions below! We suggest you compare to a dress you have of similar style or fit. You do want this to fit snugly, but remember to leave room for your body!

* PROVENANCE:
Irene Saltern was for years head designer for Tabak of California. A film costume designer in the 30’s & 40’s, she started designing commercially in the late 40s. She was the favorite designer of actress Martha Scott and dancer Ann Miller. In addition to working for Tabak, she was head designer for Phil Rose and other firms, including her own label. She is widely credited for pioneering the separates for which the California sportswear industry was famous.
