This gorgeous, dark brown sable fur capelet or wide collar dates from the 1950s or 60s. Originally sold at the fancy Michigan Avenue (downtown Chicago) shop of Martha Weathered, it is made of the finest, softest fur, and will complement many coats, jackets or dresses. It can be worn hooked closed in front as a wide curved collar (or narrow stole), or you could let the ends hang down so that it looks more like a wide scarf (see photos). The front sections are made of 2 separate fur pieces that form a loop, while the back is just one, straight across. The collar fastens in front with 2 fabric-covered fur hooks and eyes. Each pelt is backed with a wide brown rayon grosgrain ribbon, with the label attached at the center back. This lovely vintage sable fur collar or stole is in excellent condition, with no issues to note.
Size: 40” long from end to end. 6.5” at widest (in front), and 4” wide at center back.
