I have a fondness for one of the undersung–but iconic–mid-century examples of costume jewelry. JAPAN signed necklaces are not only beautiful and artistically designed, these necklaces frame the face and add wow to any outfit.
Some of these take a bold personality to wear, and this gorgeous lilac, eggplant purple and amber necklace isn't for retiring violets.
Upon close inspection, this set was most likely 'married'. The art bead in the earring cluster is black with amber dots while the similar art beads on the Japan-marked necklace are amber with an iridescent finish on one side. The finish on the back of earrings does not match the finish on the ends of the necklace and are not signed.
These faux purple pearls are also accented with slightly smokey barrel shaped beads and finished with gold filigree. All the beads are plastic with the exception of the four glass iridescents.
This would make an unusual (but stunning) pairing with coffee and autumnal browns.
