50s 50s Red Velvet Jumper and Jacket$72.00
DESCRIPTION: This ca. early 1950s’ jumper and matching jacket are so versatile! You can wear the jumper alone, with or without a blouse underneath, and add the jacket when desired. The jacket has 3/4-sleeves with notched cuffs, medium-sized shoulder pads, hip pockets, and three moonglow-lucite buttons. Jumper features deep darts at the bodice, fitted waist with pleats below, and narrow skirt with double "walking pleats" at the back. There is a metal side zipper. Both pieces are made of a very soft cotton velvet, and the jacket is lined in a rich rayon satin.
No labels, and was likely custom-made for the woman whose estate this is from. She was very stylish and in addition to many designer pieces, she had custom-tailored outfits.
This is a deep apple or cherry red. Reds don't reproduce accurately in many cases, and the type of lighting can change how it looks to the eye. These photos are a little "hot," and the color is a bit deeper and richer.
CONDITION: Very good. There are some typical rubs and "scuffs" in the velvet nap and one visible area of soil at the back of the skirt (see photo). You may want to have that spot-cleaned.
SIZE: About a small--4 to 6 (check the hip for a 6--it's narrow), but use the dimensions below to determine fit, and remember to leave room for your body. Shown unpinned on a size 2/4 mannequin, approx. 5'10" tall, and she had some room to spare, especially through the bust.
