DESCRIPTION: This ca. early to mid 1950s’ skirt suit is fashioned from a striking cranberry or ruby-red wool that I believe is all cashmere or a cashmere blend. (I've compared this to other cashmere pieces in my collection and am pretty confident there's at least some cashmere content in the wool.)

FEATURES
* Short, unfitted jacket with interesting front seaming and back detailing, soft velvet collar, front pockets, rich red rayon-satin lining
* Long, slim pencil skirt with set-on waistband, side metal zipper, and back kick pleat
* No labels; appears to be custom tailored by a professional seamstress or accomplished home seamstress

NOTE: The color is a deep rich cranberry red, but may appear brighter/lighter than actual due to the photo lights. Also, reds appear different shades depending on ambient lighting.

CONDITION: Excellent. No holes, stains, etc. Clean and ready to wear.

SIZE: Not labeled; measures out to a modern extra-small to small; estimated closest to a modern size 4, but use the dimensions below to determine fit, and remember to leave room for your body. The waist on the skirt is small, but can be adjusted by moving the button over.

JACKET, measured laying flat with buttons fastened:
Bust: 41" (room to wear a blouse or sweater underneath)
Waist: 40"
Hip/Around Hemline: 40"
Shoulder to Shoulder: Approx. 15 1/2" (not exact due to the way jacket is seamed)
Sleeve Length: 23"
Length: 25" down center back

SKIRT:
Waist: 26" (button can be moved over to gain some room)
Hip: 36"
Length: 28 1/2" down center back seam
