These fabulous black and clear rhinestone drop earrings are “up-cycled” from a broken pair of 1950s clip-on earrings. The large button earrings had one clip back broken off, in their previous life. We had our jeweler remove the second clip back, and then we attached silver metal chains and modern hooks, to make these lovelies wearable, again! They are fairly heavy, but not unreasonably so, given their relatively large size (rhinestone section measures 1.5 inches in diameter). In very good condition, the earrings have some marks on the shiny silver metal settings in back, where the original clip backs were removed. These fun rhinestone earrings could also be re-purposed as hair ornaments, or trim for a handbag or hat—whatever suits your fancy! The chains are currently attached via jump rings, but a jeweler could certainly solder more permanent hook attachments on, if you prefer.
