Circa 1950's WILARDY Handbag in a Caramel Lucite with Gold Tone Filigree

This is a Lovely Caramel Oval Shape with Gold Tone Filigree on the Front Handles and the Closure. Inside there is a Full Mirror that fits the lid.

Some History of the Wilardy Handbags: Wil Hardy joined his father's company named Handbag (Metal) Specialities. Toward the end of WWII he was able to get some damaged airplane noses that were made of lucite. During that period leather and suede were in scarce supply so this was a perfect solution. He designed a lucite jewelry box and what is exciting he brought it to the buyers of Saks Fifth Avenue New York. They loved it and asked him to add a handle and the rest was history.

MINT CONDITION - This Lucite Handbag does not have any clouding, warping, crazing, chips, or smells at all. There are the normal small scratches on the bottom just from Careful Use as well as some throughout the body of the handbag. On the left end of the lid the oval in one spot is more square than round (Please see the next to the last photograph. It may looks like clouding on the top, but it is reflections of the rose leaves.) It looks like it was finished in this way. None of these are concerning. Please remember vintage goodies are not new. Each carry traces of those who have love and enjoyed them in the past. All of my lucite handbags will have the lucite cleaned and shined, and the brass or silver will also be polished ready for your Next Outing!
