This chunky dark topaz rhinestone bracelet set by Castlecliff dates from the late 1950s, or possibly the early 1960s. The extra large smoky topaz unfoiled stones are faceted rectangles, prong set in open back, gold metal settings. Castlecliff's chief designer, William Markle, was known for creating large-scale pieces in Gothic or Renaissance styles. Certainly, this bold bracelet and earrings set would not look out of place on a queen, if only it were real jewels! The bracelet fastens with a box clasp and also has a safety chain. It is extremely well constructed, with tiny hinges between each stones setting, to allow it to bend freely. The clip-on earrings are stamped Castlecliff (no copyright mark) on the back of each clip, while the bracelet is unmarked. The set is in excellent condition.
