Mr. Simon
50s Sophisticated Fitted Dress Faux Wrap Bodice

This is an Office Diva dress, for the woman who wants to move up the corporate ladder while hinting at feminine wiles. Think Mad Men's Joan. The short sleeved bodice features a boat neckline, and intricate patterning that combines elements of princess seaming and a pseudo-sarong effect that resolves itself with a faux tie at the front waist - you can anchor your statement brooch of the week there. The straight skirt has a bit of soft pleating at the front waist, and a kick pleat in back for ease in walking.

SIZE: No size label

Bust - 43" (109 cm)

Waist - 32. 5" (82. 5 cm)

Hips - 43" (109 cm)

Bodice length from shoulder seam - 16. 5" (42 cm)

Skirt length: 29" (74 cm)

Sweep: 46" (117 cm)

FABRIC/COLORS: The color is a grayish shade of beige that I would typically called ecru. The fabric is a shantung weave. There is an inner pasteboard tag - rare for this era - that identifies the fiber content as a cotton/rayon/silk blend.

TAGS: Mr. Simon. The union tag present was used from 1955 to 1963.

CLOSURES: The dress closes with a long metal zipper down the back

CONDITION: I see a single tiny grayish mark on the left upper bodice, most likely a result of leaving a brooch pinned there for awhile. No other issues noted.
