50’s Sheer Blouse Black Chiffon$15.00
This pretty 1950s blouse has several flaws - hence the very friendly price. It could work well as a theater piece, or with some restorative attention, would be wearable. It is styled with a peter pan collar and pintucked yoke in front that is shaped in 3 curving scoops/scallops. Sleeves are very short and deep.
SIZE: No size label
Bust 39" (99 cm)
Shoulders 17. 75" (44. 5 cm)
Waist 32" (81 cm)
Length from back of neck 21" (53 cm)
FABRIC/COLORS: Sheer black chiffon, light weight, and most likely rayon, based on fiber burn test.
TAGS: No tags at all
CLOSURES: There are three vertical buttonholes in the placket, but they were removed by a previous owner and will need to be replaced.
CONDITION: There should be three buttons closing the yoke - they are missing. The bottom edge is not hemmed, but raw - see first closeup. I think this was most likely part of a dress at one point, and taken apart by a previous owner. A 6" section of the bottom right sideseam has opened - see 2nd closeup. The inner margins of the fabric there have frayed enough that I think you will need to create a wider margin for it to be stable, meaning you will lose 1/2 to 1" of waist in doing the repair. Lastly, I found one small area in the upper right rear shoulder where there are 2 or 3 pinholes - see 3rd closeup.
