Circa 50's Rialto Lucite Handbag with Floral Decor

This is a Lovely Creamy Marbled Lucite with Floral Decor on the front. It features Flowers, Leaves, and a Gold Trim Scroll Design. The Flowers are Gold in Color with Accents of Opal, Amethyst, and Turquoise accented with Seed Pearls and two Gold Metal Leaves. Inside the name is engraved on the hinge.

In "Plastic Handbags Sculpture to Wear" by Kate Dooner Kate "states that Rialto definitely was one of the most elegant manufacturers." This handbag is not featured in any of the Lucite Research books to my knowledge, but in Kate Dooner's book there is a photograph and description for a light gray handbag with flowers as shown on page 38. This lovely also has the button closure so typical for the Rialto handbags. Even the sides of the handle look like buttons. Rialto was one of the brands based out of New York along with Tyrolean, Fre-Mor and Llewellyn, Gilli, Maxim, and Charles Foster.

Near Mint Condition - There are a few very minor foibles. One, it looks like two feet are the same and the other two are alike, but slightly different. It sits completely level. There is a small amount of clouding on the bottom if you look at it a certain way. There are a few scratches on the bottom and one on top (see the 8th photograph) which is very typical for the age of these handbags.
