50’s Polka Dot Silk Dress Wiggle Popover Blouson Style

This vintage "popover" dress dates to the late 1950s, and it is adorable! Some popover dresses are two separate pieces - this dress is one piece but looks like two. The dress is primarily a sheath, with a wide waistband that rises to a subtle point at center front. The straight skirt attaches to the waist with shirring in front - there are darts to shape in back. The sheath includes a sleeveless under bodice. The cropped popover is gently shaped with darts, but stands away from the upper body. It too curves upward at center front to emphasize the waist. The popover collar is a little bit bateau, but mostly rolled, with a tab front that is anchored by a large decorative button bound buttonhole - they match those in the back.

CLOSURES: The dress closes with a metal zipper that ends at the top of the wide waistband in back.
