This late 1950s illusion bodice cocktail dress layers sheer black rayon chiffon over black taffeta, to alluring effect! The upper section of the bodice is unlined, sheer chiffon, with a round neckline in front and a low back. The cap sleeves and sweetheart bust are lined with taffeta, as is the skirt. The narrow skirt has a beautiful, pleated panel with a bubble-style hem at the center front, and a kick pleat at the center back. A pleated, draped chiffon sash circles the waistline: widest at the sides and back, it narrows at the center front, where it is trimmed with a rhinestone buckle. The dress fastens with a metal zipper in back, and tiny hook at the back of the neck, above the sheer back section. In excellent condition, the only issue with this glamorous 1950s cocktail dress is some evidence (tiny stitches in the sash area) that the rhinestone trim has been removed and replaced several times, for cleaning.
