1950's head turning shirtwaist day dress by Cay Artley, in the most amazing "think pink" hue! Cay Artley was known for their flattering fit and well made women's clothing from the 1930s to the 1960s. No content tags, but fabric is probably a satin acetate. The color is somewhere between magenta and bright cranberry, a fun color to match to a lipstick! The print is a quintessentially mid century pattern: diamond shaped painterly medallions. Other colors are red, purple and black. Dress has a fitted bodice and wide convertible collar, looks cute both ways, see photos. Front placket hides buttons to the waist. Snaps hold skirt closed below waist (you step into the dress, no zipper). Set in sleeves are gathered into button cuffs below the elbow. The skirt has many pleats at the waist creating a very full silhouette. Self belt loops at sides, but no belt is included. Photoed with a petticoat underneath that is also not included. Stunning mid century glamour in this 1950s Cay Artley dress!
