1940s to early 1950s fascinating, understated cocktail dress for L to XL 14 to 16 (check measurements below)

Fabulous for design inspiration or a theatrical production or romantic date!

Very dark navy blue or black / short sleeves / shoulder pads / 12" metal side zipper / Square neckline / fold down collar

Would have been worn with a slip (is very see through)

Darts front and back of bodice and front of skirt

2 crocheted belt loops, one is broken. No belt.

The back of the skirt displays a "tail" of wide fabric hanging loose from the waist to the hem, which must move beautifully when you walk

Features rayon (?) fabric with unusual, high design detailing: solid fabric alternates with thin bands of fabric and "pulled" thread (see photos)

This must have been an incredibly labor-intensive fabric to make!

In good condition (not great) - Discolored area on "tail" and back of color (possibly sun damage). Also, some of the threads are pulled or repaired on the detailing. Small hole on collar lining. I'd suggest dying the dress black to refresh it!
