Great details on this 1950s cropped suit jacket, so ladylike! Princess seaming with additional curviness from vertical darting - the short jacket curves out from the waist. Large curving collar with notched lapels, three quarter length sleeves. I love the little band of horizontal fabric below the bust, perhaps a nod to the iconic 50s shelf bust?
SIZE: No size label
Bust - 42" (106. 5cm)
Shoulders - 16. 75" (42. 5cm)
Waist - 33. 5" (85cm)
Length - 19. 75 (50. 5cm)
FABRIC/COLOR: Medium weight black, slubbed, feels like silk or possibly rayon with a bit of a "wet hand". The lining is black crepe, also feels like silk.
TAGS: "She Loves to Live in a Jameshire, Custom Tailored". The tag at the back of the neck says Meier & Frank Co., Portland - Salem. Meier & Frank was an upscale Oregon department store.
CLOSURES: Two rimmed self fabric covered buttons and between them, at the level of the horizontal band, a hidden snap. Buttonholes are bound.
CONDITION: Very good. There is wear to the fabric rim of the bottom button. And the crepe lining is torn a bit at the underarm area inside the jacket, the right more than the left. This is of course not seen when the jacket is being worn. No stains, holes, tears or other issues to the outer jacket.
