50’s Black Cello Straw Banded Beret Hat

Unique black cello straw beret from the late 1950's to early 1960's. Set on a scalloped black velvet band with a crown of loose weave cello straw. The interior is finished with a sheer fabric along with the standard petersham ribbon.

Label is Trebor Original which was in operation from 1945 to 1965. Originally labelled Miss Edith or Hats by Miss Edith. The business was owned and operated by Edith and Jerry Dryfoos. They created very sophisticated products which sold in the finest stores for the 20 years they were in business. There is also a store label of Miller & Rhoades. In the front interior is the remnants of a red ribbon which usually indicates a special or one of a kind design.

Excellent condition showing only minimal age or wear.

Inner circumference is 22 inches. Measuring on the outside, side to side is 14 inches.
