50’s 60’s Mini Dress Bubble Print$70.00
DETAILS: This is an elegant and ladylike early 60s cocktail dress that was shortened by a previous owner into a mini - it's my personal policy not to "update" clothing in this way, but it turned out so cute that my model didn't want to give it back!
The bodice is fitted with a combination of vertical darts and princess seaming - 3/4 length sleeves are raglan with small darts for ease at the elbow. The straight skirt is fitted with darting in back, and soft tucks in front - very flattering. There are side seam pockets! The most striking design element is the amazing neckline - narrow strips of the dress fabric were sewn into 1/4" strips, similar to lingerie tape. The "tape" is used for the scoop neckline as well as the lattice effect created by multiple pairs of the tape knotted in the center and sewn into the upper and lower necklines. I've never seen anything quite like it.
SIZE: No size label
Bust - 42" (106. 75 cm)
Waist - 30. 5" (77. 5 cm)

Bodice length from approximate shoulder - 16. 5" (42 cm)
Skirt length: 16. 25" (41. 5 cm)

FABRIC/COLORS: Based on a fiber burn test, I believe this is silk. It is a light weight twill weave with a matte finish. The print features small cocoa-brown circles that look like bubbles to me, with their cream arcing accents. Background is black. The skirt is fully lined with a semisheer acetate type fabric.

CLOSURES: Metal zipper down the side seam. The dress has thread loops for a belt that no longer exists.
