1950/60's Margaret Smith Gardiner Maine Bird Handbag

This is a Pretty Handbag with Birds on all Sides. The Colors are: Red, Gold, Blue, Green, White, and Brown done on a beige background with a red print border. The handbag has a metal twist closure. The inside is lined in a Bright Green. There is a zipper section in the center and one open section on either side of the handbag.

Some History of the Margaret Smith Handbags: Margaret started her business in Maine in the 1940's. Upon the suggestion of friends she made beach totes for gifts. In the 50/60's she began selling her bags, most often with prints, to the Bonwit Teller Department Stores and speciality shops.

Width - 3 7/8

Height - 10" without the handles, 18" with the handles

This handbag will hold any size cell phone you have.

GOOD VINTAGE CONDTITION - This is a Lovely Bird Handbag. It does have a couple of notations none of which did I see except upon close examination. The front near the bottom has one spot right by the bottom leaf (shown in the next to the last photograph). The back bottom has one small spot (see photograph #8). There is a light pen mark on the interior (very faint). The interior is perfect otherwise. Just to be completely through there is a small indention on the right bottom corner. Please remember vintage goodies are not New. Each carry traces of those who have loved and enjoyed them in the past. It is Ready to Go with Your Vintage Outfits!
