The bright, swirling pattern of this late 1950s or early 1960s caramel lucite handbag reminds me of flames! This smaller-sized lucite purse has two top handles, and a hinged clasp in gold metal. Flat on the top and base, it has curved sides, a bit like a pirate’s treasure chest, or an old-fashioned doctor’s bag. 4 small lucite squares have been glued to the base, to help it stand upright (since the hinges are located on the base). As you can see from the view of the base, there is some clouding to the lucite, only visible on the bottom of the bag—perhaps it was placed on something that affected the surface, at one time? This will be hard to notice when the bag is carried, but should be noted. The shiny, golden orange lucite is lined with dark brown cotton blend fabric, including a single gathered pocket. The maker’s label is loose on one side, and the lining fabric is just a bit dusty in the corners, although we did our best to clean it. The hinges and clasp work well, and the lucite is sturdy, with no cracks, and just a few surface scratches from normal use. In good condition, this true vintage, mid-century lucite purse will be a bold accent to your favorite outfits, day or night!
