Miss Master's Closet

50’s-60’s Lightweight Vivid Paisley Print Dress$65.00

Size:
medium

Go perfectly pretty in paisley, with this late 50's shirtdress...

This funky little number hails from the late 1950's to early 60's. Nylon was an exciting new material (developed to replace silk during WWII, which needed to be rationed for parachute usage) in the 1950's. It provided a lightweight, easy to care for material for certain items, like jackets and dresses. This example comes in a very lightweight nylon with a light crepe texture throughout. It features a vivid paisley mash-up in ochre, watermelon red, pink, orange, grey and white. The dress style is your classic shirtdress, with button-up bodice featuring funky little yellow buttons. Collar is a classic shirt collar, sleeves are short with upturned cuffs, and the skirt creates some fullness with the pleating into the waist line. No lining, however there is a lovely little red lace trim detail at the inside hem. No labels or maker's marks except for the sliver of a remnant of a paper Union-style size label. One small flaw in fabric at shoulder. Please review photographs for full details.
