50’s/60’s Green and Multicolor Cotton Skirt Suit$65.00
Live out your inner hula girl fantasies, with this vintage 1950's-60's costume...
Please note: While this is a costume outfit from a closed theatrical shop, I do realize that this may be culturally insensitive for some folk. I do apologize if you are offended and/or consider this costume to be cultural appropriation. As a historian of fashion, I do feel that to correctly move forward, we need to recognize how our actions affect others. So please keep this in mind when purchasing or planning to wear this item!
As remarked above, this costume was purchased from a lot of pieces from an old theater in Massachusetts. The halter bikini top is made of a cotton barkcloth material and features a tropical style print with pineapples and palm trees. The skirt is made of colored green grass reeds that have been sewn into a simple tie-string waist. The bikini top is cut on a bias, so it stretches to accommodate a variety of sizes and the skirt is completely adjustable. Both have very simple construction and are in overall very good condition, with no flaws to note (however, the skirt may shed some of the grass pieces from time to time). No labels or makers marks present.
Measurements:
- top measures 18" across at widest section
- waist of skirt is 26" at smallest/tightest fit
