Mid Century modern, fit and flare dress from the late 50s or early 60s. No tags, this dress was probably home sewn. The fabric seems to be a textured striped taffeta (possibly acetate) in black and off white (has a touch of lightest pink to it, but it reads as off white, next to the black). This crisp, almost stiff fabric has no stretch to it. The fitted bodice has a high round neck and princess seams front and back. The A line skirt consists of triangular shaped gored panels that attach at the waistline. This gives the skirt a chevron pattern, very cool! Best of all there are side pockets! Skirt ends just below the knee, depending on your height. 22' metal zipper and hook and eye in back. There were a couple of stitching repairs done to the skirt (see last photo). Hard to see but I wanted to point them out. Slight yellowing under the arms (also hard to see). Be aware the underarms are snug as was the style then (see measurements). I photoed this with full slip (not a petticoat) and a belt, neither of which are included. Atomic age, cusp of the 60s party dress!
