50’s 60’s Black Organza Ruffle Capelet Dress$60.00
This classic LBD from the late 1950s or early 1960s is a versatile vintage cocktail dress, appropriate to wear almost anywhere! The sleeveless, fitted bodice and pencil-style skirt are accented by a lovely, pleated cape-collar in sheer silk organza, draped over the shoulders. The dress itself feels like a blend of silk and lightweight wool. It is a medium-weight, 3-season fabric, with a crisp hand and a slight sheen to its surface. The front slit in the neckline is trimmed with a large, decorative rhinestone button. The wide inset waist panel has narrow piping at the natural waist. Below this flat panel, the skirt has tiny gathers that add just a bit of fullness through the hip area. The skirt hem has a back kick pleat, as well as tiny side slits. The dress is lined with a lightweight, muslin type of fabric in black. The dress fastens in back with a metal zipper, but the zipper does not quite go all the way to the top of the neckline, so the dress must be pulled over the head. In excellent condition, this elegant mid-century cocktail dress will be perfect for your next evening event, just add some sparkling costume jewelry and some fabulous shoes!
