50’s 40’s Varsity Letterman Sweater - 's' Cardigan$78.00
I believe this letterman/varsity cardigan was made in the 1940s or 1950s, though I haven't been able to track down specifics about the original owner or the school it represented. The sweater was made by Pearson Sporting Goods located at 1010 Chestnut St. in Philadelphia, PA. It features an orangish red 'S' and two blue stripes on the left sleeve. Fastens with six buttons up the front.
So cute for fall and winter!
Condition: Astonishingly free of any moth nibbles after all these years. However, there's a bit of staining, as if someone spilled someone spilled a bit of food down their front while eating. Also one very small stain on the sleeve. See photos.
Measurements (bust and waist measurements taken flat [while buttoned] and doubled -- there's some stretchiness to the knit that allows for wiggle room or it can be worn unbuttoned)
Bust: 40 inches
Waist: also 40 inches
Length: 29 inches
Photographed on a women's size 2 dress form.
