This is a round casserole dish and lid in a floral pattern by Hall Pottery that I haven’t been able to identify—it has orange flowers similar to Hall’s Orange Poppy pattern, but it’s not quite the same. The dish has a light beige-yellow-green background with flowers and leaves in purple, orange, green, yellow and blue.

It is 8 ¼” across outside and about 7” across inside. It is 5 ½” high from the bottom to top of the lid. The bottom dish alone is about 3 ½” high. It holds about 1 ½ quarts.

It has marks and scuffs from cooking (just think of the number of meals it’s made!) around the inside rim on the top, bottom and knob on the lid, but otherwise there are no chips, cracks, or crazing (Hall’s Superior Quality Kitchenware was designed to prevent crazing). Some of the background is discolored, whether from use or the way it was made. Some of the paint on the flowers is worn away. There are rough spots on the unglazed parts and some flea bites and other imperfections in the glaze, which would have occurred during the production process. The bottom base is scuffed from use.

It is marked on the bottom “Hall’s Superior Quality Kitchenware Made in U.S.A.”

Please keep in mind that when buying vintage items, you are purchasing something that is pre-loved and used. Most vintage items show signs of wear and may have defects, but that is also what makes them so unique and lovely.
